City notebook

Bucharest, beyond the obvious

A first day in the city is better with a few plans and a little room to wander.

The illuminated Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest

Follow the boulevard, then turn aside

Calea Victoriei is a useful thread for an introductory walk. Start around the Athenaeum and continue towards the older centre, allowing time for the streets and courtyards beside the main route. A city often makes more sense through small observations than a list of monuments.

Make lunch part of the day

A pause around the table can be as memorable as the next landmark. Build the day around your interests: architecture, history, food or simply a feel for everyday life. Leave space for a recommendation that was not on the original list.

One day can be a beginning

The sample city journey connects the Athenaeum area, Revolution Square and the Old Town. It can become a longer city stay or a starting point for a route towards the Carpathians. The right pace depends on what you want to discover.

A journey that begins with you

Where would you like
your path to lead?

A place you have always wanted to see. A story you want to follow. Let’s start there.
